In this course, you will explore the effects of Food Deserts on Philadelphia and its communities through the design-thinking process. This process allows for you to learn through exploration of topics that you are interested in and to design your own learning experiences. This may be new to you, but the course will guide you through how to structure your project and learning in a fun and engaging way!
This course should take about four weeks, or 20 days in total. Each lesson should take anywhere from 40 minutes to 3 days, but it depends on what your goals and projects are.
This course will touch on a variety of science topics, some of which are familiar and some of which may be new. If any topic is new to you, use the suggested links and resources to learn more about the topic as you are working through your project. Take some time at the beginning of the course to think about which objectives you already have mastered and which ones you could use some more practice with.
The overall goal of this module/project is to develop a product that will help to mitigate or respond to food deserts or food insecurity in or around Philadelphia.
