In this course, you will explore the effects of climate change on Memphis and its communities through the design thinking process. This process allows for you to learn through exploration of topics that you are interested in and to design your own learning experiences. This may be new to you, but the course will guide you through how to structure your project and learning in a fun and engaging way!

This course should take about four weeks, or 20 days in total. Each lesson should take about 40 minutes, but it depends on what your goals and projects are.

This course is designed to supplement instruction in your classrooms and will touch on a variety of science topics, some of which is familiar and some of which may be new. If any topic is new to you, use the suggested links and resources to learn more about the topic as you are working through your project. Take some time at the beginning of the course to think about which objectives you already have mastered and which ones you could use some more practice with.

The overall goal of this module is to develop a service or product that will help mitigate or respond to the effects of climate change in Memphis. You will research local health and environmental concerns and interview experts and community organizers who can help you understand how climate change causes or impacts these issues. This will give you the information you need to collaborate with classmates or someone in your home to create a project that will address a particular concern in your city.
